Before the massage
Hydrate well. Drink water in the hours beforehand. A hydrated body responds better to muscular work and clears metabolic waste more easily afterwards.
Eat light. A full stomach and a massage table are not good companions. But do not come on an empty stomach either — a light meal an hour before is ideal.
Arrive with time to spare. If you arrive rushed and stressed, the therapist will need the first ten minutes just to undo the tension you brought on the way. In our hammam, the best preparation for the massage is the water circuit itself. The hot water, the steam and the contrast have already done half the work by the time you reach the table.
Say what you need. Before starting, tell the therapist if there are areas that need more attention or that you would rather avoid. If the pressure is too much or too little, say so. It is not a nuisance — it is information that improves the result.
After the massage
Do not get up suddenly. Your body has just received deep work. The muscles are relaxed, the circulation activated, the blood pressure slightly lower. Take a minute sitting down before standing up.
Return to the water. In our hammam you can go back to the pools after the massage. Flotation right afterwards is a combination our guests repeat again and again. The body is at its most receptive point.
Drink water. The massage mobilises fluids and metabolites. Help your body process them by drinking water over the following hours.
Avoid intense exercise. The rest of the day is for enjoying the state you are in. A quiet walk through the Jewish Quarter, a relaxed dinner, a long night of sleep. If you have booked our guesthouse, you are thirty seconds from your bed.
Sleep. The night after a massage, the body needs to consolidate what it has received. It is common to sleep more deeply and wake up with a lightness that was not there the day before.
